When Georgia All-American tight end Brock Bowers was available at No. 11 for the New York Jets in the NFL Draft, they passed him up in favor of Penn State All-American offensive tackle Olu Fashanu.
Bowers would get selected by the Las Vegas Raiders at pick No. 13.
Former NFL punter and current analyst Drew Butler, who also played college football at Georgia, appeared on “GoJo and Golic” to chat about the Jets passing on the elite prospect.
“I was shocked to see the Jets pass him up. I thought you put him in that offense with Aaron Rodgers coming back and the talent that they have at the skill positions, that would’ve been an amazing fit…Brock Bowers is a difference-maker,” Butler said Friday morning.
“Brock Bowers was the biggest name coming out of Georgia. What did you think of his landing spot with the Las Vegas Raiders?” @mikegolicjr

Bowers seems to be a slam-dunk draft pick.
The two-time Mackey Award-winner could go anywhere and become an elite player.
The team he went to just happened to be the Raiders, not the Jets.
Now, the Jets did also lose veteran tight end C.J. Uzomah to the Philadelphia Eagles.
They had a need at tight end but are choosing to trust the process with the tight ends that they have.
Instead, Bowers will go become a really good player out in Las Vegas, and the Jets will carry on with the offense that they have.
Time will tell to see if they made the right call.
