It has become clear over the last few years that wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. simply isn’t the player he was several years ago.
He had made the Pro Bowl while surpassing 1,300 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons in the NFL, but injuries have seemingly robbed him of much of his ability.
On Friday, the veteran wide receiver reportedly signed with the Miami Dolphins, a team that already had arguably the league’s best offense and perhaps didn’t need him that badly.
Even though Beckham is at least somewhat diminished, James Jones said on Fox Sports 1’s “Speak” that Beckham should be able to succeed in Miami.

Jones said that because of the immense attention Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle attract from opposing defensive backs, Beckham should have enough openings to be productive.
Jones also believes Tua Tagovailoa is the type of quarterback Beckham can succeed with because of his pocket passing abilities.
Last season, Beckham played for the Baltimore Ravens, and he caught 35 passes for 565 yards and three touchdowns while helping them finish with the league’s best record.
In 2021, he joined the Los Angeles Rams, and he assisted them in winning the Super Bowl championship, although he suffered a torn ACL in the big game.
It was the second torn ACL he had sustained in less than 18 months.
Although Miami was first in passing yards in 2023, they needed a reliable tertiary threat in their passing game, and Beckham could fit the bill.
They went 11-5 last season, but they defeated just one team that had a winning record, and being able to consistently defeat good teams represents the next step in their journey toward what they hope will be a world championship.
