The Houston Texans haven’t been around for that long, but they’ve had their fair share of great players.
Still, chances are that ten out of ten people would choose J.J. Watt as the greatest player in franchise history.
Unfortunately for him, the Texans weren’t always the most competitive team in the league during his playing days, and that situation has most definitely changed now.
That’s why, even though he’s been away from the league for two years now, he’d still consider padding up again and making a comeback.
Recently, the three-time Defensive Player of the Year said that he’s actually been in touch with HC DeMeco Ryans about a possible comeback.
I asked J.J. Watt how he resists the temptation to return to football, especially given the Texans’ rise. His answer was interesting.

He revealed that he told him last season that he’d be willing to come back if the Texans absolutely needed him, as he’s never stopped training and is still in good-enough shape to pull it off.
Watt also stated that this would be the last time he was going to have that offer on the table, adding that he obviously wished that everybody stayed healthy and didn’t require his services at all.
This speaks volumes of how much faith he has in his former teammate as a head coach, as no one, perhaps not even him, saw last season’s meteoric rise and success coming.
Watt was one of the greatest players of his generation and of all time.
But he struggled mightily with injuries during the second half of his career, so perhaps coming back wouldn’t be in his best interests.
Then again, it would be so nice to see him taking the field again and going full circle with the team he gave everything to for a decade.
