In his second season with the franchise, Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel has his team off to an impressive start, with a 4-1 record after their first five games.
Before he was hired by the Dolphins during the 2022 offseason, McDaniel spent a number of years as an assistant coach around the NFL with multiple teams.
Back in 2014, McDaniel was the wide receivers coach for the Cleveland Browns, a team that had used a first-round pick to select polarizing quarterback Johnny Manziel in the 2014 NFL Draft.
McDaniel recently confirmed the rumor that Manziel never spent a second of his day analyzing game film outside of the team facility during his time with the Browns in 2014, via theScore.
“I was there, and I was getting the reports of zero [hours]. That is real.”

What McDaniel is referring to are the reports that Cleveland would receive that showed how many hours each player spent on their team-issued tablet reviewing game film.
Manziel not watching game film outside of the Browns facility is crazy, but it’s also not too difficult to believe, considering how poorly he performed during his brief stint in the NFL.
In 14 total appearances in his career with Cleveland, Manziel only completed 57 percent of his passes for 1,675 yards, seven touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
He actually had the opportunity to start eight games while he was with the Browns, however, the team was only 2-6 in the contests with Manziel starting under center.
Manziel’s two seasons with Cleveland in 2014 and 2015 were the only two years he spent in the league, and few have ever fizzled out of the NFL quicker than the former quarterback did.
