When the Pittsburgh Steelers took Chase Claypool, plenty of people thought he’d be a superstar in no time.
His physical traits make him a perennial mismatch against most defensive backs, yet he’s never been able to be a consistent contributor.
There were plenty of reports about him not being mature, coachable, or even willing to be held accountable during his days in Pittsburgh.
He drew plenty of criticism for his antics on social media and TikTok, not to mention his infamous celebration that cost his team a game after just getting a first down.
It seemed like the Steelers just gave up on him when they traded him to the Chicago Bears, and now that he’s talked his way out of there as well, he’s reportedly looking forward to proving that he’s a good teammate:
“I think I just (will) be the same person I’ve been in terms of being a teammate,” Claypool said, via Around The NFL and NFL.com. “I know I’m a good teammate. I don’t have to do anything extra to like — don’t have to do too much to try and prove that. Just be myself, and I’m excited about being around a new group of guys and showing them what I can do.”

Claypool’s days in the Windy City weren’t exempt from controversies.
Aside from his criticism of his coaches, there were reports of poor work ethic and a lack of effort.
Claypool was supposed to be a prominent part of the Bears offense, yet they’ve looked better in the two games he’s not been around.
His talents and physical gifts are evident, but he’ll have to put in a lot of work to turn the narrative around.
The Dolphins wouldn’t have taken a risk on him if they didn’t think he could be a valuable contributor to the league’s most explosive offense, and that also says a lot about him.
But at the end of the day, it’ll all depend on him.
