After the disappointing loss for the Cleveland Browns in Week 4, with the team unable to put up more than three points against the division-rival Baltimore Ravens, there was a lot of concern about star quarterback Deshaun Watson, as the team clearly missed him under center.
Watson is dealing with what is being called a rotator cuff contusion, which doesn’t sound great, especially for a player at the quarterback position on a team that desperately needs him under center to win games.
The team had rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson leading the charge for the Browns in Week 4 against the Ravens, and it went about as bad as it could, with the UCLA product throwing three interceptions and unable to get anything going in the passing game.
With the Browns having their bye in Week 5, Cleveland was hoping Watson would be ready for the Week 6 showdown with the undefeated San Francisco 49ers (5-0), but that doesn’t appear to be the case.
According to Josina Anderson of CBS Sports, Watson has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the 49ers.
I’m told the #Browns QB Deshaun Watson will not play Sunday vs the 5-0 #49ers, per source.

This is an unfortunate turn of events for the Browns, even though they’d likely still struggle against arguably the best team in the league if he was able to play on Sunday at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
When healthy, Watson has been far from spectacular this season for the Browns, as he’s thrown for 678 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions thus far while also rushing for 83 yards and a touchdown in three games.
However, he definitely gives the team a better chance to win when he’s on the field, so the Browns could be in for a long day on Sunday against a team that has yet to be beaten this season.
