In the aftermath of the Dallas Cowboys getting destroyed by the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5, veteran star quarterback Dak Prescott has come under fire for his play in that game, in which he threw three interceptions and didn’t put his team in a position to come close to making it competitive against arguably the best team in the NFL.
That said, especially with the defense being in an elite class with superstar linebacker Micah Parsons leading the way, the clock may be ticking on Prescott’s time as the Cowboys’ starter under center, as it seems painfully clear that change needs to be made to take this team to the next level.
Interestingly enough, the Cowboys did address the quarterback position recently, with the team making a trade with the 49ers of all teams to acquire Trey Lance.
It seemed like an odd move for a team supposedly confident in its quarterback, but Dallas made the move anyway, which may have indicated that the front office has grown tired of Prescott not living up to expectations.
On a recent episode of “Speak” on FS1, former NFL wide receiver James Jones made the case that Prescott is the problem in Dallas and that it is not head coach Mike McCarthy.
Biggest issue for Dallas offense: McCarthy or Dak?
“For me it starts and ends with Dak Prescott… At the end of the day, he has to make the throws. Mike can’t make them for him.” — @89JonesNTAF pic.twitter.com/Sn27hU0fwD

At this point, the Cowboys need to start considering a change because there’s no way this team will compete for a Super Bowl title in the NFC with a team like the 49ers in their way with Prescott leading the way for the offense.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens in Dallas the rest of the way during the 2023 campaign and whether Prescott is on the hot seat moving forward.
