The Baltimore Ravens were apparently trying to draft a wide receiver early in the NFL Draft this year.
According to Ravens GM Eric DeCosta, 49ers first-round receiver Ricky Pearsall was a “sleeper” for Baltimore.
“I thought he was a guy that we might get that was a sleeper for us at some point,” DeCosta told the Baltimore media.
“It was a great pick.”

The team chose Nate Wiggins, a cornerback out of Clemson, with the 30th overall pick, and San Francisco took Pearsall with the next pick.
Baltimore later chose North Carolina receiver Devontez Walker in the fourth round, but they were clearly hoping to add someone sooner.
This offseason, the team lost receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Devin Duvernay to new teams.
They needed to add more depth at receiver.
The selection of Walker in the fourth round was a must.
Now, their core includes Rashod Bateman, Nelson Agholor, Zay Flowers, Walker, Deonte Harty, and Tylan Wallace.
Think of their pass-catching group like you would the Kansas City Chiefs.
There are a bunch of good role players that help complement a great tight end, which is what the Ravens have in All-Pro Mark Andrews.
The team also added one of the best running backs of this era in Derrick Henry on a two-year deal worth $16 million this offseason to help replace J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards, who are both on the Chargers now.
With two-time MVP Lamar Jackson leading this team, look for the Ravens to still be a dangerous team, even if they didn’t get who they wanted in the draft.
