Over the last five years, the San Francisco 49ers have had one of the NFL’s most talented teams.
However, despite four NFC Championship Game appearances and two trips to the Super Bowl during that time, they have failed to bring home the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
A graphic that has gone viral on social media shows that while they rank third in playoff wins since 2010, they’re the only team in the top eight of that category without a Super Bowl championship since 2010, per Matt Daniel.

The Niners started their recent run of competitiveness during the 2011 season when Jim Harbaugh took over as head coach and molded them into a hard-hitting, defensive-minded team.
They made the NFC title game in each of the next three seasons and reached the Super Bowl in the 2012 campaign, but they came away empty-handed each time.
That squad started to dissolve in 2014, but the arrival of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in 2017 greatly shortened San Francisco’s rebuilding process.
It only took them two more years to become elite again, thanks to some excellent drafting by general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan, both of whom were hired in 2017.
But the 49ers are a proud franchise that won five world championships from 1981 to 1994, and anything less than that is considered a failure for them.
They have the team to get it done these days, but they have to figure out how to get past Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, who have beaten them in their last two Super Bowl appearances.
