The Houston Texans were a feel-good story in the NFL last season, as they surpassed just about everyone’s expectations by going 10-7, winning the AFC South, and beating the Cleveland Browns in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
They already had plenty of hope and optimism for the 2024 season, but this offseason, they intensified those feelings by acquiring pass rusher Danielle Hunter and star wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
On Thursday, Houston added another piece by trading for wideout Ben Skowronek, who has spent his three pro seasons with the Los Angeles Rams.
Tom Pelissero reminded everyone of the embarrassment of riches Houston has at the WR position by tweeting what that room currently consists of.
Houston’s updated WR room:
Stefon Diggs
Nico Collins
Tank Dell
Robert Woods
John Metchie III
Noah Brown
Ben Skowronek https://t.co/wRxJ8XZvdw— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) May 9, 2024
Diggs has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last four seasons, and in 2023, he caught 107 passes for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns.
Tank Dell, who was a rookie last year, had 709 yards and seven touchdowns before a fractured fibula prematurely ended his season.
Nico Collins struggled in his first two seasons in the NFL, but he blossomed in 2023, putting up 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns.
The presence of Diggs should make life easier for both Dell and Collins, not to mention quarterback C.J. Stroud, the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year.
The big question is whether the Texans have enough to seriously challenge the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs for AFC and football superiority.
