If there was any doubt that the Bears would use any other starting quarterback this year, head coach Matt Eberflus put those conversations to bed.
He recently spoke with the Chicago media and had this to say about Caleb Williams being the starter:
“No conversation. He’s the starter,” the third-year head coach said.
#Bears coach Matt Eberflus left no doubt that No. 1 pick Caleb Williams is his starter: “No conversation. He’s the starter.”

Not many No. 1 overall picks start off their careers on the bench.
It doesn’t appear that Williams will be either.
Backups Tyson Bagent and Brett Rypien are not going to challenge him for the starting gig.
The Bears grabbed him at No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft last month, and he is ready to take on the challenge of bringing the Bears back to contention.
In his final two years of college ball, he recorded over 90 scrimmage touchdowns and just 10 interceptions at USC while playing for Lincoln Riley.
He will look to continue that production in the Windy City with a loaded cast of wide receivers that includes Keenan Allen, D.J. Moore, and fellow top-10 pick Rome Odunze.
The team traded for the six-time Pro-Bowler in Allen this offseason after the Chargers decided against dealing with his contract.
At running back, the team signed 1,000-yard rusher D’Andre Swift to a three-year deal this offseason worth $24 million.
If Williams makes his transition to the NFL quickly, this Bears team can take the world by storm.
He also won’t have to worry about having a bad defense that won’t be able to help him out.
The Bears are coming off of a resurgent defensive season led by Pro Bowl edge-rusher Montez Sweat.
Don’t sleep on the Bears.
Don’t sleep on them at all.
