The 2024 NFL offseason started off on the wrong foot in the eyes of many Minnesota Vikings fans.
Kirk Cousins moved on to the Atlanta Falcons in free agency, leaving a significant hole at the quarterback position.
Despite not bringing the Vikings on a deep playoff run during his tenure, Cousins was a beloved figurehead within the organization.
His teammates seemed to appreciate his leadership, and most fans liked him, as he seemed relatable to them.
After it was announced that he moved on, fans immediately turned their attention to the draft.
There was talk of the Vikings being interested in several top quarterbacks from his year’s rookie class, and they ended up selecting J.J. McCarthy.
McCarthy is coming off a national championship with the University of Michigan, so he knows a thing or two about winning.
As indicated in a photo shared by The Purple Persuasion on Twitter, McCarthy made an appearance at the Minnesota Timberwolves’ playoff game, hoping to help bring them some of his winning magic.

The Timberwolves ended up losing this game, but McCarthy being there is an indication that he’s already trying to integrate into the community.
Minnesota sports as a whole have struggled for many years, but the Timberwolves’ run has made fans excited.
McCarthy hopes to bring the same level of energy to the Vikings’ offense in his rookie season, as the fanbase is craving a deep playoff run.
The Detroit Lions, their divisional rival, had their moment in the limelight last season when they made it to the NFC Championship.
Can the Vikings make a similar run in 2024?
