With the rookie minicamp in the rearview mirror, the Chicago Bears continue to make moves to prepare for the upcoming campaign and beyond.
Apparently, some players made a great impression, as the team just announced the signings of WR Freddie Swain, TE Tommy Sweeney, CB Leon Jones, DT Dashaun Mallory, LB Paul Moala, and WR John Jackson.
Notably, the latter might carve out a role in the Bears’ offense sooner rather than later.
According to Ari Meirov, Jackson is actually one of Caleb Williams’ closest friends.

Jackson played his collegiate career at USC and Nevada, logging 40 receptions for 309 yards.
He wasn’t heavily featured during his days with the Trojans, logging 35 receptions for 267 yards in his lone season in Nevada.
He’s also the son of John Jackson, a former wide receiver who made five appearances with the Bears in 1996 after a career in Minor League Baseball, so he also has some ties to the organization.
The Bears have gone to great lengths to make sure that Williams has everything he needs to succeed and feel comfortable ahead of his rookie season.
The team already has a stacked core of pass catchers like Rome Odunze, Keenan Allen, Cole Kmet, and DJ Moore, but you can never have too much depth at the position.
Also, if they have strong on-field chemistry, perhaps he could end up outplaying some higher-profile guys on his team.
Then again, it’s never about getting to the league, it’s about staying there, so it’s now all up to him to prove his worth.
