The 2023 NFL Season didn’t go as planned for the Cincinnati Bengals.
After making it to the Super Bowl in 2022, the Bengals took a major step back in production last year, largely due to Joe Burrow’s injury and inability to play for the whole season.
While this was a concerning year for fans, Burrow seems to be getting healthier and should be back and ready to go to start the 2024 campaign.
Burrow might be on the right track, but there was another problem looming in the background.
There were rumors that defensive star Trey Hendrickson was unhappy with his role on the team and that he had requested a trade.
However, despite these rumors, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore, at least based on his recent comments.
Hendrickson spoke about his feelings in a statement shared by the Bengals’ website via Pro Football Talk.
“Long-term, winning games, all those things are what I want to do here in Cincinnati and removing myself from the team doesn’t help the team,” Hendrickson said.

He still might be frustrated with the organization and how they’ve handled his contract situation, but it is clear that Hendrickson doesn’t want to go anywhere in the near future.
This is still a team led by Burrow and several other talented young players, who have a real chance to make some noise in the AFC.
Their road might not be easy, especially with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs continuing to get better, but retaining players like Hendrickson puts them in a much better position moving forward.
