The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have officially locked up their All-Pro safety in Antoine Winfield Jr.
The Super Bowl champion recently signed a four-year extension worth $84 million with the Tampa Bay Bucs, making him the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter recently released further details regarding Winfield’s contract extension.

Across 2024 and 2025, Winfield will earn $45 million guaranteed, which is the most for any defensive back in the history of the league.
He will also make nearly $40 million in total across 2026 and 2027 if he continues his great secondary play.
With his new deal, Winfield Jr. is a clear cornerstone piece of Todd Bowles’ team.
After getting drafted out of the University of Minnesota in the second round in 2020, Winfield would record 94 total tackles and 3.0 sacks en route to helping Tampa win its second-ever Super Bowl.
He followed that season up with his first-ever Pro Bowl appearance in 2021.
Two years later, in 2023, he would turn in his first All-Pro season.
That season, he set career-highs in tackles (122), sacks (6.0), pass deflections (12), interceptions (3) and forced fumbles (6), which led the league.
Looking towards the future, Winfield, along with defensive tackle Vita Vea and inside linebacker Lavonte David, will look to lead Todd Bowles’ defense, especially on the backend.
His importance to the team rivals that of quarterback Baker Mayfield’s, as well as that of wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
Assuming he continues his production at an All-Pro level, it seems like Tampa Bay made the right call by giving him this big of a contract.
