As if expectations weren’t high enough for No. 2 overall pick Jayden Daniels, they are about to get even higher.
NFL Network analyst Bucky Brooks said recently on NFL Total Access that he believes the Commanders’ new franchise quarterback has the potential to do what Houston Texans stud quarterback C.J. Stroud did as a rookie in 2023.
“Absolutely, and I would expect it to be a very similar impact…When you look at Jayden Daniels, he is an elite prospect when it comes to his arm talent and his athleticism. He can put it together whether he’s working on the script or off the script,” Brooks said.

Brooks would also mention offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury as a reason for why Daniels could be successful.
He referenced Arizona Cardinals starting quarterback Kyler Murray, who became a Pro-Bowler under the leadership of Kingsbury during his time as head coach out in the desert.
Look for Daniels to show a lot of potential as a starter in year one.
It’s not just his game-changing abilities with his arm and legs that allow him to be great, but it’s the current pieces around him that can help him out.
He has Pro-Bowl-caliber players all over the field.
Pro Bowl wide receiver Terry McLaurin is coming off of his fourth consecutive 1,000-yard season.
The team signed former Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz this offseason, who knows Kingsbury’s offense from their time together in Arizona.
They also added a great all-purpose running back in Austin Ekeler.
Daniels will have his share of weapons to work with and with his abilities, along with the help from his offensive coordinator, he should have a solid rookie year at minimum.
