The Denver Broncos made a recent move to add some help on special teams.
According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, they added veteran punter Trenton Gill.
The team made the move despite already having a starting punter in Riley Dixon, who is entering his ninth career NFL season.
Perhaps this will be a competition to watch this summer at Mile High.

Usually, when a team brings in another veteran punter, that means there will be a battle in training camp.
After getting drafted in the seventh round back in the 2022 NFL Draft, Gill would go on to spend the first two seasons of his career with the Chicago Bears.
After last season, he was waived in favor of new Bears punter Tory Taylor, who won the Ray Guy Award in 2023 after a tremendous season at Iowa.
Gill now heads to Denver to fight for another opportunity on head coach Sean Payton’s roster.
The stats between Gill and Dixon are much different.
Gill is only entering his third season, and Dixon is entering his ninth year.
In his three career seasons, Gill has recorded 133 career punts and 38 of those fell inside the 20.
Dixon has had over 590 career punts.
198 of those were pinned inside the 20.
Look for Payton to keep a very close eye on this position.
While coaching in New Orleans for many years, he had a super consistent punter by the name of Thomas Morstead, who was the team’s All-Pro punter for over a decade.
Payton clearly sees some room for improvement at the position in Denver and wants to see some competition.
