With his playing career in the NFL behind him, former star tight end Greg Olsen tried his luck at becoming a broadcaster, which is something a lot of former players with personalities like him tend to do in their post-playing career.
Although some star players, like Drew Brees, flame out quickly when they transition from the field to the broadcast booth, Olsen made the transition seamlessly and became a fan favorite on broadcasts during the 2023 NFL season.
Unfortunately, despite being a success for FOX Sports last year, the network has a deal with former NFL superstar Tom Brady to be a broadcaster during the 2024 NFL season, which means Olsen will have to take a backseat.
According to Dov Kleiman, Olsen will take a massive salary cut with Brady joining the FOX Sports broadcast team, as he will lose $7 million, with the seven-time Super Bowl champion being elevated to the No. 1 spot for the network while the former tight end has been demoted to the “B” team.

Although this is a costly blow for Olsen, he has already proven himself to be a valuable asset to FOX Sports and will likely have a long career ahead as a broadcaster, so while it may seem like a demotion for the moment, he has a bright future doing what he’s doing.
As for Brady, the former superstar quarterback will be under tremendous pressure to prove himself in the broadcast booth during the 2024 campaign, as there’s no guarantee he will be good at his new job.
