It is hard to dispute how good a team is when they’ve made the Super Bowl twice in the last five years, won their division twice in that span, and made it to at least the NFC Championship Game in four of the last five years.
That is what the San Francisco 49ers have done since Kyle Shanahan was hired as head coach back in 2017.
The 49ers, by most accounts, are the best team in the NFC.
At least, that is what Fox Sports’s Craig Carton believes.
Better chance of returning to the Super Bowl: Chiefs or 49ers?

“They’re the best team in football. It’s not even close…They’re the best team in the NFC,” Carton recently stated on The Carton Show.
This franchise is a well-oiled machine.
Whether it is Jimmy Garoppolo or Brock Purdy at quarterback, this offense is so tough to beat.
Now that Purdy is an elite player, his ability to get the ball to the likes of All-Pro skill players in running back Christian McCaffrey, tight end George Kittle, gadget player Deebo Samuel, and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk makes Shanahan’s offense super tough to defend.
Defensively, they have arguably the best unit in the NFL.
They are stacked at every level with Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa, All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner, tackling machine Dre Greenlaw, and All-Pro safety Talanoa Hufanga.
With the experience that the team has, along with the talent on both sides of the ball, they are the total package.
Carton is completely right in saying that this team is the best team in the NFC.
However, they have lost to the Chiefs in both Super Bowls that they have recently played in over the last five years.
It is hard to say they are the best team in football because of that.
