The Jacksonville Jaguars took a step back in the 2023 NFL season as they failed to make the playoffs despite holding onto the lead in the AFC South for the majority of the year.
Their shortcomings on both sides of the field plus the rise of the Houston Texans put the Jaguars on the outside looking in during the 2024 NFL Playoffs.
However, Jacksonville will be looking to bounce back during the 2024 NFL season after an offseason where they addressed some of the needs on their roster.
Although Calvin Ridley left in free agency to join their rivals the Tennessee Titans, the Jaguars brought in reinforcements in the form of Gabe Davis and 2024 NFL Draft first-round pick Brian Thomas.
Overseeing the offense will be Trevor Lawrence who will look to regain his form from the 2022 campaign where he earned his first Pro Bowl nod.
Lawrence is still playing on his rookie deal but is reportedly in line to receive a lucrative contract extension via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
“The #Jaguars are “all in” on QB Trevor Lawrence and are engaged in talks for an extension that is expected to be in the $50M range,” Fowler reported.

Although Lawrence hasn’t quite met expectations as a former No.1 overall pick, he’s been solid when given ample protection and weapons to work with.
$50 million annually for an above-average quarterback seems steep, but the current quarterback market dictates that sort of price tag.
Should Jacksonville decide to commit to Lawrence long-term, then they must give him a roster that he can lead back to the postseason.
