The New England Patriots are going to look vastly different in the 2024 NFL season as they’ve got a new coaching staff and roster to work with.
After years of toiling in mediocrity, the Patriots elevated Jerod Mayo to become the franchise’s next head coach while they also spent the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on UNC’s Drake Maye.
With a new head coach and quarterback in place, New England went to work in the offseason tweaking the roster on the edges in hopes of making them more competitive than they have been in previous years.
However, the team will also have several of it’s veteran players to ease the transition, namely Matthew Judon who will enter the season as the Patriots’ backbone on defense.
Judon previously signed a four-year, $54.5 million deal with New England that he has outplayed and will be looking for an extension.
It seems that the pass rusher may have tipped his hand when it comes to what he’s seeking on a new deal via Carlos Talks Pats.

Judon remains one of the most productive players at his position despite his age and could play at least a few more years at a high level.
Knowing the Patriots, though, the most likely route is they look for his replacement via the draft in order to preserve cap space.
However, if Judon turns in another strong year then the organization will at least have to consider paying him a hefty amount to keep him.
