The NFL operated on a 16-game schedule for many years.
This schedule seemed to work well for all parties involved, so that format remained untouched for several seasons.
However, given the amount of money the NFL makes each season, 16 games were no longer enough.
The league expanded to a 17-game schedule in the 2021 season.
This expansion was received well by fans, but the players didn’t seem to be too happy about the change.
Now that the league has had three seasons with 17 regular season games, there are talks of adding one more game.
After hearing this, San Francisco 49ers standout Nick Bosa seemed to have enough, as captured via the 49ers on NBCS on Twitter.
“I don’t know why one more needs to be added,” Bosa said.

Bosa believes that the current format is fine and that the NFL should continue operating in this capacity.
The current format already puts players under extreme duress, and one more game would only add to that.
It will be interesting to see if there is a stronger push for this in the coming months and how players will react if this change is implemented.
With the ever-growing emergence of social media and podcasts, players have an opportunity to spread information like wildfire.
If they are truly upset about this potential change, they could take action, forcing the league to reconsider their position entirely.
The 49ers are one of the most well-marketed teams in the league, and if their players speak out about injustices, it could result in a trickle-down effect across the league.
