The Pittsburgh Steelers got a very passionate player when they drafted George Pickens.
The University of Georgia product cares a lot, sometimes to a fault.
That has gotten him in the spotlight for the wrong reasons, as he’s been overly critical of the Steelers’ situation and has had some antics and tantrums on social media that not many young players usually get away with.
However, coach Mike Tomlin seems to understand that he has good intentions, which come from his love for the game.
Recently, Pickens talked about how obsessed he is with the game of football, admitting that he usually pulls off all-nighters just thinking about football (via Around the NFL and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette):
“I don’t take a lot of time off,” Pickens said. “Sometimes I don’t even sleep. I’ll pull all-nighters, just thinking about football.”

Of course, getting some rest is a must for professional athletes, especially those who put their bodies on the line in every single play, but that’s just the way the second-round pick is.
Pickens is coming off a solid season, logging 63 receptions for 1,140 yards and a league-best 18.1 yards per catch.
He also had five receiving touchdowns, which is quite notable for a team that struggled mightily with the passing game.
With Diontae Johnson no longer in town, Pickens is now expected to have an even bigger role.
Also, with Arthur Smith and Russell Wilson there, the passing game should be better as well.
Hopefully, he’ll be able to keep his character and temper in check and focus on getting better every single day, as he has all the tools to be one of the best wide receivers in the game in no time.
