The Baltimore Ravens made one of the best signings of the NFL offseason by bringing in All-Pro running back Derrick Henry.
One of the best rushers of his generation, Henry will form a dangerous duo on the ground with MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Offensive coordinator Todd Monken recently revealed his goal this season for Henry to the Baltimore media as the team ramps up it’s OTA period.
“I know this: If (Henry) carries it 300 times, we’re having a helluva year,” Monken said.
In his eight seasons with the Titans, Henry recorded over 300 carries just three times.
Additionally, the former Offensive Player of the Year is about to turn 31 years of age this season.
It will be very interesting to see if Baltimore can get Henry that amount of carries, especially with Lamar Jackson’s ability to run the football.
But, the four-time Pro-Bowler is still one of the best running backs in the entire league.
He has led the league in rushing and rushing touchdowns twice (both in 2019 and 2020).
In five of his final six years with Mike Vrabel and the Titans, Henry rushed for over 1,000 yards.
He is arguably the best offensive player in team history, which is why his move to Baltimore was so big.
With his massive frame (6-3, 250 pounds) and ability to take on any defender in the hole, look for him to make magic happen on the ground for John Harbaugh and Co.
If he gets his 300 carries, like Monken said, he will be the player that took the league by storm in Tennessee for so many years.
