The first two years of Deshaun Watson’s tenure with the Cleveland Browns have not gone according to plan, as Watson has been battling major injuries to get on the field and has looked like a shell of his former self when he has managed to suit up.
In two years, Watson has appeared in just 12 games and thrown for 2,217 yards and 14 touchdowns with nine interceptions, and one notable analyst has recently gotten honest about what to expect from him this coming season.
Greg Cosell appeared on The Ross Tucker Podcast and said that when it comes to managing expectations for the star QB this season, “I don’t think anybody knows…he hasn’t played a lot of football the last three years…the hope is he’s the Watson from 4 or 5 years ago.”

It’s tough to predict anything from a guy who has played 12 games in three years, but for a QB who is heading into his age-29 season, this should be the prime of his career and as long as he is healthy and has a $63 million cap hit, everyone is going to be expecting MVP-like numbers.
Cleveland went out and traded for Jerry Jeudy this offseason to bolster the wide receiver corps, adding him to Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore to form a respectable trio of targets to go along with David Njoku, who broke out towards the end of last season.
Behind a brick wall of an offensive line and the hopeful return of star running back Nick Chubb, this has all the makings of an elite offense if Watson can be the Watson of old.
