ESPN analyst and show host Pat McAfee has built a strong media career which makes it easy to forget his time as a punter in the NFL.
McAfee was originally a seventh-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts and went on to be their punter and kickoff specialist for eight seasons.
McAfee got to play alongside Peyton Manning and did well for himself, earning First-team All-Pro in 2014 and being named to the Pro Bowl twice in his career.
He also was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team and currently holds the NFL record for highest-career net average punting yards at 41.1.
His playing experience mixed with his infectious personality makes him one of ESPN’s most entertaining individuals and he’s even left a bit of a legacy amongst the current generation of punters.
For example, Marquette King, who plays for the UFL’s Arlington Renegades, hit a celebration after a punt that he learned from McAfee, via the UFL’s official Twitter account.
“I learned that from Pat McAfee. So I had to take that one. For the Brand!” @MarquetteKing had to show off his best @PatMcAfeeShow celebration after the punt #ForTheBrand pic.twitter.com/79FfDgcC5F

King can be seen imitating a golf swing on the field after hitting a punt, a clear nod to McAfee.
Like McAfee, King is a former NFL punter who was best-known for his time with the Oakland Raiders where he was named Second-team All-Pro in 2016.
During his NFL days, King wasn’t afraid to showboat on the field which led to him becoming a fan-favorite and it looks like he’s brought that same energy to the UFL.
