The Washington Commanders will enter the 2024 NFL season with a renewed sense of optimism after all the organizational changes they made this offseason.
The Commanders brought in a new regime under general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn, and found their new quarterback of the future in Jayden Daniels.
The trio represents a new era of Washington football as the previous years were spent toiling in mediocrity.
Although the Commanders aren’t expected to compete for a playoff spot in 2024, the team’s at least established a direction and foundation they can build on going forward.
As far as generating more excitement in the city, the organization is looking for ways to drum up more interest in the roster and team.
To that end, it seems that they’re keen on hosting the 2027 NFL Draft via Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk.
“The Commanders and D.C. officials want the 2027 NFL draft,” Smith reported. “If another city wins the bidding for 2027, Washington would likely continue competing for a future draft.”

This past year, the Detroit Lions got the honor of hosting the 2024 NFL Draft and the event was wildly successful as numerous fans showed up to celebrate the festivities.
Not only does hosting the draft give teams like the Commanders a chance to market their players, but it also brings more foot traffic to the city which helps everyone involved.
However, Washington will have stiff competition as other teams around the league would love to host the draft.
For now, it’ll be worth monitoring over the next year or so about which team is granted the honor.
