Aaron Rodgers’ Achilles tear set back the New York Jets as they were expected to take the leap and become a Super Bowl contender.
Instead, the Jets find themselves at 2-3 during the 2023 NFL season and will be lucky to make the Wild Card round.
Zach Wilson has looked more competent in recent weeks as he’s finally finding a groove within the offense, but the team clearly still misses Rodgers.
Rodgers underwent surgery to repair his torn Achilles almost immediately after the injury occurred and there are rumors that he is set on returning later this year if New York somehow squeaks into the postseason.
The quarterback has been around the team in recent weeks offering support and guidance on the sidelines.
However, he managed to surprise fans when he took the field and threw a couple of passes prior to their matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles via Rich Cimini of ESPN.

It’s nothing short of remarkable to see Rodgers throwing a football again, albeit just some light passes.
Still, as Cimini notes Rodgers is only a little over five weeks removed from his surgery which seems to indicate that he is ahead of schedule during the rehab process.
Fans have to be happy to see Rodgers doing some sort of work on the field, though it still feels like a stretch that he’ll be able to return even if the Jets are in the playoffs.
The smarter move for the organization would be to have Rodgers sit out and continue to rehab his Achilles for next season, though it’ll be hard to turn him away if he feels he’s ready to go later in the season.
