The New England Patriots officially made Eliot Wolf the VP of Player Personnel this offseason and tasked him with being the first person to run this front office in the post-Bill Belichick era, and his relationship with new head coach Jerod Mayo is going to be a pivotal subplot to this season.
So far so good, as these two are apparently aligned on their vision for the team, and excitement is building ahead of the 2024 season.
Wolf appeared on “Up & Adams” today and discussed his relationship with his new coach, describing it as the “honeymoon” phase of their relationship and adding that there’s a “huge level of mutual respect” between them while acknowledging that there hasn’t been any adversity yet as far as losing games or having to make tough decisions.
But Wolf believes they have built the strong foundation to be able to handle those conversations well when it’s time to have them.

These are exciting times to be a Patriots fan as the team finally feels like it has let go of the past after clinging to the glory days of Belichick and Tom Brady for a few years, and now with a new VP, a new coach, and a new quarterback, this team should look nothing like it did last season.
Wolf and Mayo have a lot of work ahead of them as this team is projected to be one of the worst in the league, but rebuilds are a lot less painful when the infrastructure is in order.
