The rich get richer, and that’s particularly true in the National Football League.
The New York Jets don’t have that many glaring holes in their roster right now, so they can afford to take some risks.
That’s why they’ve decided to help veteran RB Tarik Cohen in his pursuit of an NFL comeback.
The 28-year-old running back hasn’t played in the league since 2020 with the Chicago Bears.
He suffered back-to-back season-ending injuries in 2021 and 2022, leading to his eventual release.
Cohen signed with the Carolina Panthers to join their practice squad and was given a future contract before being released earlier in the month.
When asked about the Jets’ reasoning behind this signing, HC Robert Saleh looked quite excited (via Max Markham).

Saleh raved about his explosiveness and playmaking ability, adding that he could be a valuable asset as a kick returner with the new rules in place.
He added that they needed more depth at the position because of how heavily involved kick returners will be in the game now, adding that he’s finally healthy.
Cohen suffered a torn ACL, MCL, and leg fracture on the same play.
Then, he suffered a torn Achilles tendon.
Needless to say, not many players could be able to come back from this.
Still, Cohen was an All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection in 2018 for his job as a running back and kick returner, and he can also make an impact as a pass-catcher, so he could end up being a massive low-risk/high-reward pickup for this team.
