Every single year in the NFL, players, fans, and the media get wrapped up in debates about which players in the league are the best at their chosen positions, with most of these debates being about quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers.
With offense being the glamorous part of the game and what everyone cares about, especially with fantasy football becoming so popular over the years, the defensive side of football takes a backseat in these debates.
However, there might currently be a heated debate among some NFL defensive players, with cornerback Joey Porter Jr. of the Pittsburgh Steelers recently saying he’s the best player in the league at his position.
Although a lot of players in the league try to view themselves as the best players at their position in order to play at the best of their ability and potentially reach that distinction at some point in their careers, few actually get there, with Porter causing quite a stir with his comments.
It appears that star corner Jaire Alexander of the Green Bay Packers was one of the many who heard the comments made by the Steelers young star, which likely prompted this comment, via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.
“The best corner in the league has entered the chat,” Alexander said.

With Alexander now having stirred the pot in the best cornerback in the league debate, it’ll be interesting to see if there are any other star players at the position in the league that will throw their hat into the ring.
Alexander and the Packers hope to take it to another level during the upcoming 2024 campaign, with Green Bay proving last year that they may be much closer to contending than people thought they were.
