The Atlanta Falcons shocked the world during the 2024 NFL Draft when they took Michael Penix Jr. out of Washington.
Not that Penix wasn’t a great prospect or a promising player, but the fact that they had just signed Kirk Cousins to a very lucrative deal made it kind of head scratching.
Given his age, he was projected to be taken later in the first round, and having him sit for a year or two may not have been the wisest decision for whoever got him.
But now that it’s all water under the bridge, the top-10 pick is getting ready to showcase his skills on the gridiron, and just like every other quarterback, he grew up looking up to some players and molding his game to theirs.
Notably, he had quite an interesting list of players when asked about his favorite quarterbacks of all time (via BR/Gridiron).

In no particular order, he chose Michael Vick first, which is far from a surprise, given that he was perhaps the first elite dual-threat quarterback and a cultural icon before his legal turmoil.
Shockingly, he chose Teddy Bridgewater later, perhaps referring to his impressive tenure at Louisville and his pre-injury form in the NFL.
Patrick Mahomes’ choice is pretty self-explanatory, as he’s been the best quarterback in the league since he became a starter.
Then he turned back the clock by choosing one of the greatest undrafted players ever, the legendary Warren Moon and his strong arm.
Last, but not least, he gave the nod to Lamar Jackson, the best dual-threat quarterback in today’s game, and another guy he’ll get the honor to face once he takes the field as the Falcons’ starter.
