The Pittsburgh Steelers hoped that Allen Robinson would bounce back with them last season, but that wasn’t the case.
That’s why they decided to cut ties with him after just one season working under HC Mike Tomlin.
That wasn’t much of a surprise, considering the fact that he only managed to get 34 receptions for 280 yards and no scores, which was less than impressive, even for a team with such a subpar passing offense.
However, Robinson was still shocked that he was let go:
“I know for them, they were doing a lot of changes over there, schematic changes, and different things like that,” Robinson said. “So, it was a little surprising.
Still, the veteran wide receiver claimed to be grateful for the fact that he had an opportunity to bounce back with the New York Giants.
Robinson believes he’s a great fit for what Brian Daboll wants to instill offensively next to Daniel Jones.
He was once considered to be one of the most underrated pass-catchers in the game, as he kept putting up big numbers despite constantly being in tough quarterback situations.
However, he’s been slightly disappointing since leaving the Chicago Bears, so he might be entering the final stages of his career.
Even so, he’s still going to be an upgrade for a Giants team desperately craving some playmakers for the passing game.
They drafted WR Malik Nabers to carry the load and be their No. 1 option going forward, but that’s not enough.
Hopefully, he’ll be able to make a not-stellar quarterback look good again like he did in the earlier stages of his career.
Otherwise, he’s not going to be out there for much longer.
