Two years ago, the New York Giants pulled off a big upset on the road in the playoffs, taking down the Minnesota Vikings in the Twin Cities.
That was the end of the line for them and they lost the very next game.
Still, it was an encouraging season and some thought HC Brian Daboll was going to be able to finally get the most out of Daniel Jones.
Jones got a big payday and struggled mightily in the following campaign, once again raising questions about his skills and prospects as a starter in this league.
That’s why Giants WR Darius Slayton believes his quarterback needs to start winning again to finally get some respect around the league (via Giants Videos).
Darius Slayton is asked what Daniel Jones needs to do to gain respect across the league:
“Win. Two years ago when we were in the playoffs, everybody was like, ‘actually, he needs help.’ The narrative comes and goes depending on how your team does.” pic.twitter.com/Ox96W9VPS3

Talking to the media, Slayton argued that the narrative always changes depending on how a team fares, as two years ago, people talked about how the Giants needed to do right by Jones by giving him more help.
With that in mind, he thinks the only way people will respect him in this league is by winning some games.
Truth be told, he’s right on point.
His breakout season numbers weren’t impressive at all, and those would’ve come in a down year by some actually elite quarterbacks.
Still, the improvement was evident, and he constantly found ways to lead his team to wins, which is the only thing that mattered.
Those who expected him to have a similar growth and development to Josh Allen under Daboll might not feel the same way anymore, but he could still at least prove that he’s worthy of being their starter.
