The NFL world is reeling with the tragic news of the passing of Dallas Cowboys legend and Pro Football Hall of Fame lineman Larry Allen.
The 52-year-old was vacationing in Mexico with his family when he died on Monday, and the shocking news spread across the sports landscape like wildfire.
A Hall of Famer who for years ran through gaping holes created by Allen, Emmitt Smith, reacted to the tragedy. The NFL’s all-time leading rusher tearfully called Allen “one of the best offensive lineman I ever played with.”

Smith admitted to struggling for words to explain the depth of his sadness after receiving the horrific call.
Allen, he said, was a “super person” and a “great player” and that it “breaks my heart” to lose such a friend.
Larry Allen will be remembered forever as a standout who survived a humble and turbulent childhood to rise to the top of the NFL.
His glory was such that he was selected for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s all-decade teams for both the 1990s and the 2000s.
And after eleven Pro Bowls and six All-Pro selections, being honored as a first-ballot selection for Canton was a foregone conclusion after Allen’s retirement.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing a solid 335 pounds, Allen was a force to be reckoned with on the gridiron.
His sheer athleticism surprised many defenders who did not expect a man of his size to be so quick on his feet.
Many will remember the legendary John Madden’s unabashed praise for Allen, who is sorely missed by all NFL fans.
