Ever since New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered an Achilles injury back in Week 1, the team’s fanbase has been holding out hope that the veteran signal-caller will make a triumphant return to the field at some point this season.
Some Jets fans believe if the team can somehow qualify for the playoffs without Rodgers this year, he can return in time to lead them on a magical run in the postseason.
While this is a fun pipe dream to have, New York fans should probably lower their optimism about the quarterback returning this year at least a little bit, as bringing him back too soon might not be the smartest idea for the team to do, which was pointed out by CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson on Monday.
My thing with Aaron Rodgers is, even if he miraculously heals in time, playing in the postseason could be the biggest gamble ever to the rest of his career in a Jets uniform if he get injured again, or potentially his most triumphant and heroic outcome ever too. https://t.co/mUaDnJrzHU

In her tweet, Anderson mentioned the risk of re-injury that Rodgers and New York could be taking if the quarterback returns this season before he’s 100 percent recovered from his injured Achilles.
If Rodgers were to suffer another significant injury later this season, it could potentially result in him missing a good amount of the 2024 campaign as well.
If that’s a risk that the Jets are willing to take, then there is certainly a chance that Rodgers could suit up in a New York jersey once again this season.
The quarterback getting back on the field this year will also depend on the success of the Jets by the time he’s ready to come back.
If New York is struggling and out of the AFC playoff picture, then the team would be better off letting Rodgers spend more time to recover and prepare for 2024.
