It’s not easy to make it to the National Football League, and you have to be a special talent with good health, plenty of luck, and an unmatched work ethic to actually stay there.
Nonetheless, even though we can all agree that nothing but the crop of the cream makes it to the league, there are still levels to everything.
Some players are better than others; that’s just a fact, and one doesn’t have to be a football expert to know that Saquon Barkley has had a better career than Devin Singletary.
That’s why New York Giants fans weren’t particularly pleased when he left the team, even if they could’ve done a lot worse with the guy they found to replace him.
However, when asked about that, Singletary was oozing with confidence, and he didn’t feel like he had some big shoes to fill.
If anything, he feels like he’s also a veteran running back who has made a name for himself in the game, so he’s just going to continue doing his thing (via The New York Post):
“I’ve been in the league just like him … he’s only been in the league a year before me. … I feel like I’m a playmaker like him, so … I’m just gonna be me,” Singletary told The Post.
You have to be confident in your game to make it in this league, and Singletary is coming off quite a solid season.
Barkley was one of the most impactful running backs in the game when healthy, but that rarely happened.
Still, with that offensive line, the former Houston Texans RB might find it tough to be as impactful in the Big Apple, but if he manages to stay on the field, that might be enough to one-up his predecessor.
