One of the NFL’s longest-tenured players in the game is back for another year.
Veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis is back for his 19th career season, which is an NFL record among tight ends.
The former Pro-Bowler confirmed his return to the game and to the Chicago Bears on social media recently.
“Level 19,” Lewis tweeted.

Lewis was drafted way back in 2006 by the Jacksonville Jaguars out of UCLA in the first round.
He would go on to spend 12 seasons with the team (2006-2017) before linking up with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay.
The former All-Pro would go on to help the Packers make three playoff appearances in his five seasons with the team (2018-2022), which was one more than he made with the Jaguars in his 12 years with them.
After his time finished up in Green Bay, Lewis would sign with the Bears in 2023.
Again, he will be back in Chicago for his 19th NFL season.
Lewis has not been much of a receiving threat in over a decade.
The last time the 40-year-old tight end eclipsed 500 yards receiving came in 2012.
He is still a dominant blocking tight end and should certainly be quite helpful for rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.
The Bears will be looking to put up points this season with all the explosiveness they’ve added at receiver this offseason.
Lewis will be able to provide safe throwing lanes for Williams, who can then find the likes of DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, and Rome Odunze.
Occasionally, look for Lewis to be a target in the play-action game too.
