The Minnesota Vikings could have a very solid situation at quarterback in 2024.
They made waves by selecting national champion J.J. McCarthy out of Michigan at pick No. 10 overall in April’s NFL Draft.
However, they also signed veteran quarterback Sam Darnold to a one-year deal earlier in the offseason.
According to insider Dane Mizutani, the Vikings believe Darnold has the chance to succeed in the Twin Cities.
“The early returns with the Vikings have been palpable as Darnold continues to familiarize himself with the new offense…He has made a number of incredible throws…He also has done a good job not missing many layups,” Mizutani recently wrote.
According to @DaneMizutani, #Vikings QB Sam Darnold has been extremely impressive this offseason and that there’s “no question” Darnold possess the arm talent to succeed

Vikings fans should want their team to have multiple solid quarterbacks.
While McCarthy can get his NFL legs under him, Darnold can start the first half of the season.
After all, the former USC star has plenty of starting experience.
He has started 56 games across six seasons with four different teams.
Despite being 21-35 as an NFL starter, the 27-year-old has seen a lot in his career and can bring that expertise to Minnesota.
Plus, All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson and the rest of the team’s stars could feel more comfortable playing with a pro rather than a rookie.
While everyone is talking about what is happening in Green Bay, Detroit and Chicago in the NFC North, the most intriguing situation could very well be in Minnesota.
It will be fascinating if the Vikings can get off to a good start in the regular season.
If they are 5-1 in October, will head coach Kevin O’Connell continue to play Darnold, who feels like the starter right now?
It is all very interesting.
