The New England Patriots went from one star quarterback to the next one, but they didn’t mean to do so.
They had just signed Drew Bledsoe to a big contract, and he was supposed to be the face of the franchise for years.
Then, he suffered a gruesome injury that forced them to play a lanky kid taken in the sixth round of the NFL Draft named Tom Brady.
The rest, as you know, is history, and the Patriots turned to Brady until he left the team two decades later.
With that in mind, Bledsoe had a bit of a joke for him during his induction into the team’s Hall of Fame, calling him the worst backup quarterback in NFL history, per the team.

Bledsoe claimed that Brady didn’t understand that he was supposed to head back to the bench when he got back to full strength.
It’s nice to see that Bledsoe has always taken the jokes and comments with a sense of humor, and he’s always had nothing but the utmost praise and respect for the guy who accidentally took his job.
Brady went down as the greatest and winningest quarterback the game had ever seen, and his whole story was just a major inspiration for players coming after him.
At the end of the day, it’s not about when you’re picked or how much of a coveted-prospect you are.
It’s all about always staying ready for when your time comes and making the most of every single opportunity you have to prove your value.
