The San Francisco 49ers lost their first game of the season, leaving the 1972 Miami Dolphins as the only undefeated team for at least another season.
Notably, the Niners lost more than just a game, as OT Trent Williams, WR Deebo Samuel, and RB Christian McCaffrey also had to leave the field with different injuries.
That put plenty of pressure on QB Brock Purdy’s shoulders to lead his team against arguably the best defense in the NFL, so it wasn’t much of a surprise to see him get his first career regular-season loss.
Nonetheless, NFL analyst Craig Carton isn’t worried in the slightest about this team.
“Everything’s gonna be just fine for San Francisco. They’re gonna win their division. They’re gonna be in the playoffs.”

Looking at the schedule, he believes they should have no problem beating the Minnesota Vikings before facing the Cincinnati Bengals ahead of their bye week.
Then, the stretch between Weeks 12 and 15 will be key for them, as they go against the Seattle Seahawks twice and also face the Philadelphia Eagles, but they should be just fine the rest of the way.
Carton believes they could have home-field advantage, and guaranteed they’d be in the playoffs.
For Greg Jennings, losing Deebo and McCaffrey for a couple of weeks could even be a blessing in disguise for the team, as Kyle Shanahan would now be forced to put together an offensive system revolving around Purdy, and not his weapons.
Whatever the case, it’s safe to say that the Niners are still one of the most stacked teams in the league, and while they didn’t look like it on Sunday, they’ll be just fine.
