Every NFL fan knows the Miami Dolphins are loaded on the offensive side of the football, with stars galore and the ability to light up the scoreboard.
But for the team to bring a Lombardi Trophy to South Florida, it must also bring the heat on defense.
The franchise took a giant step toward defensive domination this week when its leadership reached out and brought a big name into the fold.
Fans of the Fish must be overjoyed by the news reported by Tom Pelissero that the team signed veteran defensive end Calais Campbell.

The 37-year-old Campbell is a monstrous presence along the defensive front as he measures 6-foot-8 and 282 pounds.
And despite his advancing age, at least in NFL terms, he continues to play at a very high level.
Campbell’s relocating to Miami is a homecoming of sorts, marking his return to the area where he first made a name for himself as a college player with the Miami Hurricanes nearly two decades ago.
In 17 games with the Atlanta Falcons last season, Campbell proved he still has the motor to disrupt offenses and cause havoc along the line of scrimmage.
This must be considered a coup in Miami.
The team looks for its fifth consecutive winning season in 2024 but must adjust to a major change on the defense.
Gone is coordinator Vic Fangio, who was replaced by new defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver.
Weaver hails from Baltimore and is a well-respected assistant coach with aspirations to climb the professional ladder.
Having a defensive force like Campbell to count on can only help that cause.
