Over the past decade or so, the National Football League has made it all about keeping players safe and making sure they put up points on the scoreboard.
They’ve made a series of modifications to the rules and even the equipment, and even though the players don’t always seem to like it, the league still goes through with these changes.
Notably, they just changed the controversial hip-drop tackle rule, and most players are not happy about it, and especially not defensive players.
That includes Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby, who recently claimed it was tough to play defense as it is (via The Rush Podcast).

Talking to Julian Edelman, the star pass rusher stated that he didn’t know how players would be even able to contain themselves in the heat of the moment and the middle of a play.
Edelman added that he used to watch his film at the end of each season, and he witnessed the game changing in real time because of some of the easy catches he had earlier in his career.
He claimed that defensive backs don’t even go for big hits anymore because they get fined for them, adding that they’re not getting big contracts for those hits either; they get them for interceptions.
The game has come a long way, for better or worse.
Everything has to adapt or perish, and, unfortunately for some fans — and definitely for defensive players — the NFL isn’t the exception to that rule.
