The St. Louis Cardinals had a year to forget.
Their 71-91 (.438) record was their worst since they went 62-81 in 1995 (.434 winning percentage).
They hadn’t missed the playoffs since 2018.
The second season of Oli Marmol’s reign was definitely not positive.
However, the organization might be trying to get him some help; a man who is acquainted with everything Cardinals-related.
It’s none other than Yadier Molina, a ten-time All-Star, nine-time Gold Glove award winner, and two-time World Series winner with the organization in a playing career that spanned from 2004 to 2022.
Retired since last season, Molina already has some managerial experience with Navegantes del Magallanes in Venezuela and the Puerto Rican national baseball team in the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
Reports from St. Louis suggest that the Cardinals want to bring in Molina to their coaching staff.
“Both the Cardinals and Yadier Molina have expressed interest in having Yadi join the team’s coaching staff in an everyday position, per @katiejwoo,” Talkin’ Baseball tweeted.

As of now, the team is retaining Marmol as the manager despite the disappointing season.
However, Molina might have a chance to enter the team’s coaching staff and start building himself a career within the organization, with the goal of one day becoming the Cards’ manager.
Few people know more about the game of baseball than Molina, a brilliant defensive catcher, pitching staff handler, and student of the game.
He might be a future Hall of Famer as a player, and since he seems to be interested in a career as a coach/manager, what better place for him to have that chance than St. Louis?
