The Miami Dolphins made the key move to add soon-to-be 17-year veteran Calais Campbell to their defensive line earlier this offseason.
Campbell was thinking strongly about retiring but felt like he was still at the top of his game.
“I feel like there’s a really good opportunity here…You’re playing football at a high level still. Why not do it one more time?” Campbell recently told the Miami media.
Calais Campbell says he says considered retirement but opted to return to Miami for 17th NFL season: “Everything was feeling too good. It’s just like, man, you’re playing football at a high level still. Why not do it one more time?”https://t.co/JtPFFalntQ pic.twitter.com/jQAxcJx1FE

The six-time Pro-Bowler was voted to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team a few years ago after showing off his elite abilities for a long time at multiple stops.
Now 37 years old, Campbell looks to capture that Super Bowl ring that has eluded him so far.
The former Miami Hurricane and second-round draft pick has 105.5 career sacks, 175 tackles for loss, and over 250 quarterback hits in his career.
In 11 of his 16 years played, Campbell has recorded at least six sacks, which is particularly impressive for an interior defensive lineman.
He is coming off of a 6.5-sack season in Atlanta where he also poured in 17 quarterback hits.
With the loss of starting defensive tackle Christian Wilkins, who left for Las Vegas in free agency, the Dolphins need Campbell to step up.
This is a defense that has stars all over the field in Jalen Ramsey, Bradley Chubb, Shaq Barrett, Jaelan Phillips, Jordan Poyer, and Jevon Holland.
The addition of Campbell could potentially pay massive dividends down the road.
