The Philadelphia Phillies were not a team many thought would win the World Series at the beginning of the season.
Yes, they were coming off a World Series appearance but many people thought that was a fluke.
This Phillies team is anything but a fluke.
For the second straight year, the Phillies have made the NLCS.
They now find themselves three wins away from another World Series appearance.
Looking at how the Phillies trended this season, their odds to win the World Series were not good.
According to Codify, the Phillies had slim chances in the first four months of the season.
But, have seen their odds go up from August to September to October.

Many people think the Phillies should be the favorites to win the World Series.
They seem to be clicking on all cylinders at the perfect time.
Now leading 1-0 in the NLCS over the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Phillies are sitting pretty.
They have only lost one game all postseason long and that was on the road.
It is quite clear there is not a better postseason atmosphere in baseball than the one at Citizens Bank Park.
The Phillies fans make it a very uncomfortable nine innings for opposing players.
It will be interesting to see if the Phillies hit any speed bumps during the playoffs.
Right now it seems like they are on cruise control and consistently playing great each night.
Arizona needs to pull out of the stops to try and steal Game 2.
If not, this series could be over quickly.
