The New York Yankees have been going through it in the injury department lately with Giancarlo Stanton, Anthony Rizzo, and Clarke Schmidt all hitting the injured list, and unfortunately, superstar outfielder Juan Soto has thrown salt in the wounds by missing Saturday’s loss to the Toronto Blue Jays due to an injured hand.
Soto jammed his hand on a slide recently and woke up with some inflammation on Saturday, and one insider recently revealed an update on the situation.
Yankees clubhouse reporter Meredith Marakovits reported that Soto expects to have more tests on his hand when the team returns to New York after Sunday’s game against the Jays, adding that trainers will evaluate Soto today to see what is necessary.

Soto reportedly experienced pain when attempting to grip a bat yesterday, which is why he was out of the lineup on Saturday and will remain out on Sunday in the series finale.
X-rays confirmed that Soto does not have a fracture, but the team will find out more about the inflammation next week and determine if an unfortunate trip to the IL is in Soto’s future.
The team doesn’t have the depth to stomach losing Soto at the moment given how many injuries are starting to pile up, but the team did acquire J.D. Davis recently to help mitigate some of this pain.
Soto has been an iron man in his career and played in at least 150 games in every season since his rookie year aside from the COVID-shortened 2020 season.
