When people discuss recent postseason heroes, the most commonly mentioned names are Bryce Harper, Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve, and Yordan Alvarez.
All of them have done more than enough to be deserving of that praise.
However, Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber rarely gets mentioned among the truly great postseason players of our era, and he really should be taken into account.
The lefty masher hit two home runs in the Phillies’ 10-0 victory against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday, for Game 2 of the National League Championship Series.
He reached three during the 2023 postseason and 18 in total for his career.
That tied a legendary playoff performer for most of all time among lefties.
“Schwarber has 18 career postseason HR which ties Reggie Jackson for the most by a left-handed hitter in postseason history,” MLB insider Jesse Rogers tweeted.

Schwarber has mashing in the postseason since he was with the Chicago Cubs from 2015 to 2020.
Then, in 2021, he landed on the Boston Red Sox and had some success there, too.
Since last year, he has been a member of the Phillies, and keeps terrorizing pitchers in October play.
His .892 postseason OPS is much better than his .831 regular season mark, and his 18 homers in 60 games when it matters the most are also very impressive.
As a team, the Phillies have hit 19 home runs in just eight games in the 2023 playoffs.
That’s an amazing number, and Schwarber is a big part of that dangerous, productive lineup.
He might be strikeout-prone (he fanned 415 times in the last two seasons combined), but when he hits the ball, great things happen.
