Kirk Cousins left the premises to join the Atlanta Falcons, so the Minnesota Vikings have a new quarterback.
Cousins refused to waive his no-trade clause last season before suffering a season-ending injury, as he wanted to run it back in Minnesota.
He ended up walking away and the Vikings got nothing in return for his services, leaving them in scramble mode to find a replacement.
And while they always intended to find one in the NFL Draft, they knew that whoever they took may not be ready from the jump, which is why they also brought Sam Darnold in.
Darnold finished his stint with the Carolina Panthers on a high note, and while he didn’t get to play with the San Francisco 49ers last season, he’s now a seasoned veteran, and the talent has always been there.
That’s why one unnamed bettor has decided to give him a significant vote of confidence.
According to former ESPN sports betting expert Ben Fawkes, one person has submitted a $250 wager on FanDuel for Sam Darnold to win MVP.
The wager, which happened at 300-1 odds, would win $75,000 if it were to cash.

Needless to say, the chances of this happening are quite slim.
Darnold has the edge over JJ McCarthy to be QB1, but the Vikings could turn to the rookie at any point in the season if they feel like he’s ready.
Then again, we’ve seen crazier things happen, and Kevin O’Connell has a QB-friendly system and arguably the best wide receiver in the game, so who knows?
