The Philadelphia Eagles crashed and burned in 2023 a year after the team fell short of a Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Losses and injuries piled up before the Eagles were blown out in the NFC wild card round against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Star wide receiver A.J. Brown missed that game with a knee injury he sustained in the Week 18 loss to the New York Giants, and unsubstantiated rumors began to swirl that the Eagles might trade him away this year.
While Brown didn’t outright deny he could be traded, he told Kay Adams of FanDuel TV’s “Up & Adams” show that he isn’t worried but is always prepared for anything in the NFL.
“I’m not really worried about it. If it is, if it ain’t … I think you just gotta be prepared,” Brown said. “It’s a business.”

For what it’s worth, his teammate, fellow wide receiver DeVonta Smith, said on the same show that Smith wasn’t going to be traded.
But Brown has a right to be bothered by rumors, as the reason he is even in Philadelphia is because of a blindside trade by his former team, the Tennessee Titans, on draft night two years ago.
Brown put up huge numbers in his first year with the Eagles in 2022 and looked just as dangerous in 2023 before the Eagles’ bad stretch of games at the end of the year.
Part of that can be blamed on inconsistent play by quarterback Jalen Hurts as well as an uneven gameplan from since-fired offensive coordinator Brian Johnson.
Brown more than likely will return to Philadelphia in 2024, but he isn’t taking anything for granted anymore.
